We arrived about 11:30am with a very smooth transition through immigrations and customs, which i personally think we were owed after the time and money we spent at the Embassy on the Brazil Visa.  Our driver we prearranged through our lodging met us as we came out of customs and we were off.  He was a great tour guide during our drive, unfortunately the clouds kept us from seeing the landmark, Christ the Redeemer.  We arrived at Casa Cool Beans and met Lance our host, who took very good care of us.  I will post pictures and more on Casa Cool Beans later.  After a shower, change and lunch at a local place, we set out to explore Santa Teresa.  It's like a boho, artistic village in the mountains about central Rio.  We ate lunch across from Bar de Minero, which seems to have people pouring out of it whenever we pass by, regardless of the hour.

Here are a couple cool buildings and views we came across during our walk.

I loved the row of attached houses set apart on the hill.

Jacob really enjoyed this building. I think he was having images of his own Eva Perone moment, Don't cry for me Rio, just not the same.

After much exploring, we headed back to Casa Cool Beans to freshen up for dinner.  We had 8pm reservations at Rio Scenarium, and took a cab to Lapa.  Lapa during the day is sad and dead, but Lapa at night is full of people and music, such a difference.  We see a crazy long line leading up to what ended up being Rio Scenarium, thank goodness for our reservation, we jumped right to the front of the line.  It's 3 stories, holds 1000 people, full of antiques and has amazing live music.  Here are some fun pics I snapped inside with the iPhone.

Last but not least, the fridge doors attach to the brick wall on our way out the door.
