Let me just start with if you can't find me, I will be living here!
Ipanema beach is where are the fabulous people go, so how could we not start there. Easter Sunday, who is going to be at the beach, right? EVERYONE!! See for yourself!
People bring very little to the beach, they rent chairs and umbrellas, and the rentals are all red as you can see.
People also wear very little to the beach, as you can see.
I was very surprised by how few people were in the water, however.
We had lunch at an amazing little cafe called ZaZa Bistro and it was divine. Our appetizer was Salmon and Tuna Tartare with Wasabi Mousse and Plantains. OMG
After lunch we went by Garota de Ipanema. This is the bar famous for where the songwriters wrote the Girl from Ipanema song, watching a beautiful woman walking past the bar to the beach each day.
You can imagine the two old men sitting here all day and leering, I mean enjoying the people watching.
Jacob particularly enjoyed the McDonald's sign seen here.
On to Copacabana, and well honestly, obviously a place that has been but no longer is. The beaches were Significantly more empty than Ipanema, to the point we didn't even take pictures, we felt so bad for it. The only real attraction is the Copacabana Palace, which theoretically also has a song named after it, but really it is named after a NYC nightclub that is named after the hotel, a little sad again.
Our recommendation, go to Ipanema.
We went to Barra de Tijuca on the day we drove around the city. It turns out Barra will be hosting most of the 2016 Olympic Venues for Rio, the longest beach in Rio and know for Pepe, who brought hang gliding to Rio.
The beach was pretty empty but it was a Monday.
We had lunch at a local Pepe stand that serves only sandwiches they way he liked them.
There was a hang glider association at the end of the beach, where people trained.
End of the Road
